Zsa Zsa Gabor underwent a hip replacement operation yesterday (19.07.10).

The 93-year-old actress is currently recovering in the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles after going under the knife following a fall from her bed which left her with several broken bones.

Her ninth husband, Prince Frederic von Anhalt, 65, confirmed the surgery had been a success.

Her publicist John Blanchette added: "She's a fighter, and we're hopeful that things will work out well."

The glamorous star is believed to have been trying to answer the telephone on Saturday (17.07.10), while watching television on her bed when she overstretched, lost her balance and tumbled to the floor.

The former Miss Hungary beauty Queen has had several medical problems over the years - as well as needing a wheelchair following a car accident in 2002 which left her partially-paralysed, she also suffered a stroke five years ago.

Her daughter Francesca Hilton - from Zsa Zsa's four-year marriage to hotelier Conrad Hilton, Paris Hilton's great-grandfather - also confirmed her mother was in good spirits.

She said yesterday: "My mother is not in critical condition or at death's door. She was on the phone in the hospital today while having lunch."
