Zooey Deschanel, the Golden Glove-nominated star of 'New Girl' will host Saturday Night Live for the first time in February, NBC announced on Wednesday (January 11, 2012). In a potentially risky move by producers, actor Channing Tatum will also make his hosting debut, one week before Deschanel.
The current season of Snl has received mixed reviews, so Nbc bosses handing the reigns to younger talent such as Deschanel and Tatum could give it a much needed boost. The action star, who's set to appear in forthcoming action flick 21 Jump Street, will host on February 4 2012 (with music coming from Bon Iver), while Deschanel will appear one week later, when pop music duo Karmin will provide the soundtrack. The youthful hosting line-up actually begins this Saturday (January 14, 2012) when Harry Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe takes over. Having completed his stint in Broadway show 'How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying', the 22-year-old is set to appear in the horror movie 'The Woman in Black'. The 37th season of Saturday Night Live began in September 2011, when Alec Badlwin hosted, with music coming from Radiohead.
Zooey Deschanel, who recently confirmed she is to split from husband Ben Gibbard, is nominated for Best TV actress at this Sunday's Golden Globes.
