The former One Direction singer, who quit the band last year (15) to lead a more "normal" life, is preparing to kickstart his solo career by launching his first single, Pillowtalk, on Friday (29Jan16).

However, Zayn has now revealed he is also plotting a return to education after quitting school to join One Direction, and he wants to enrol at university to get a degree, even if he has to study from home.

"To educate yourself isn't hard these days," he tells Britain's Culture magazine. "You can do it at home. You can go to lectures - just sit there, which hopefully, at some point, I can do... just sit and listen to a lecture... Something that is only, solely for me... And when my kids ask me, in the future, and I try to tell them to go to school, they can't turn around to me and say to me, 'F**k off Dad, you were in a band!' I can turn around and say, 'Excuse me, I went back to school and got my degree. So you definitely have to do you schoolwork!'"

Zayn recently admitted he had lost touch with his former bandmates since walking out on their world tour in March (15) and announcing his departure from the group, but he has now revealed one of the singers has reached out to him in an email.

"I got an email," he declares. However, Zayn does not name which member of One Direction got back in touch, adding, "I don't even wanna say names... I have no beef (feud)."

When asked whether he would consider reuniting with One Direction in the future, he adds, "Who knows?... If the time was right and that was the thing to do, then I would make that decision when it came around."
