The former One Direction star left the boyband last month (Mar15) in a bid to live a "normal life", but he is now said to be considering a career change after holding talks with Bend it Like Beckham director Gurinder Chadha.

The moviemaker tells Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper, "We've met and spoken. He trained as an actor first then became part of the band. So I think what he'll be doing is staying true to the heart - and that's all you can ever do. I don't have a part in mind for Zayn just yet but hopefully in the future."

Malik kept a low-profile after leaving the group, but made his first public appearance at Britain's Asian Awards on Friday (17Apr15) and returned to on Monday (20Apr15).

He wrote in a post on the micro-blogging site, "Wanna (want to) say thanks to everyone that's been there for me over the last few weeks, love you all... you know who you are x..."
