The couple - who are to marry on Saturday (30.07.11) at the Canongate Kirk church in Edinburgh, Scotland - have totally different personality traits, with the 30-year-old royal, who is the daughter of Princess Anne, having a "firey" side and the England rugby ace being much more relaxed.
Mike explained: "The fire and ice thing is true to a certain extent. Being angry doesn't come naturally to me. Zara isn't like that. She'll say how she feels and show her emotions."
The 32-year-old sportsman - who was brought up in Leeds, Northern England - admits while observers initially worried whether his background was "too different" to Zara's, he already knew her cousins Prince William and Harry, as well as her brother Peter Phillips and mother Princess Anne, before they even met.
He added in an interview with Reader's Digest magazine: "To start with, people wondered whether our backgrounds were too different. But it's not a problem. I've been on The Edge of her world all the time I've been playing rugby.
"I know William and Harry because they are great England supporters, and I've played against Peter. Zara's mum is patron of the Scottish Rugby Union so I've known her for years. They're good, fun people - all of them. They're just a normal family."
Meanwhile, Mike explains the couple's "low-key" wedding is demonstrative of the way they like to live their lives.
He said: "But that's the way we like our lives. Low-key with lots of sport and as much time together as possible. I'm looking forward to Zara being my wife. Is that soppy enough?"
The full interview with Mike Tindall appears in the August issue of Reader's Digest in shops July 28.
