Zack Snyder's superhero blockbuster suffered a disappointing drop in ticket sales compared to its record breaking opening but still made $6.6 million (£4.7 million) in its second week in cinemas.

The major success story of the weekend (02-03Apr16) was Olympic underdog story Eddie the Eagle $4 million which made (£2.8 million).

The film, which stars Welsh actor Taron Egerton as British ski jumper Eddie Edwards has earned rave reviews and soared to number two on the chart.

Disney's acclaimed animal animation Zootropolis dropped to third with takings of $3.8 million (£2.7 million). This kept it ahead of another tale featuring cartoon critters, Kung Fu Panda 3, which made $1.1 million (£761,699) in fourth.

In fifth place was My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2, the sequel to the 2002 romantic comedy hit made $868,145 (£614,594) at the box office.
