Singing legend CAT STEVENS is planning a London West End musical based on his songs.
The 55-year-old star - who changed his name to Yusuf Islam in 1979 after converting to Islam - will follow in the footsteps of other seventies icons including Abba, Queen and Rod Stewart whose hits have all spawned stage shows.
But Stevens insists the musical is a long way off: "There are projects that are at a developmental stage, and one of them is a musical.
"It would be an interesting way of presenting the songs in a new format.
"I'm very excited about it. We will start with a workshop this year (04) and aim to open in Germany in 2005 before hopefully bringing it to London."08/01/2004 14:04
