Days from the release of his new movie 'From Rome with Love', Woody Allen has finally answered the question on everyone's lips: why did he have dinner with Lindsay Lohan in New York earlier this year? The pair made headlines after being spotted together, leading to intense speculation that the legendary auteur was ready to cast Lohan in one of his upcoming movies.
However, perhaps more strangely, Woody told Access Hollywood that the dinner was simply a social meeting, saying, "I wouldn't hesitate to use [Lindsay] in a movie because she's a very talented girl. That was a social dinner, but as I said, she's a very gifted girl and I would not hesitate if I had something for her.I'd certainly call her". When pushed on whether he would be worried about insuring Lohan for a project - given her recent run-ins with the law - Woody noted, "That would not concern me, no. I mean, if there was some reason that I couldn't, that would be a different story, some legal reason, but it would not concern me personally, no.I think that she'd be just fine and she'd do a great job". An ardent New York native, Allen concedes to doing more travelling since being married to wife Soon-Yi - he shot his latest movie in Rome and premiered it in Los Angeles. The director explained, "I'm a world traveler. I never was, but since I'm married. My wife calls the shots and she likes to travel".
'To Rome with Love', stars Alec Baldwin, Roberto Benigni and Penelope Cruz, and hits cinemas on June 22, 2012.
