Country legend Willie Nelson has declined an offer to become comedienne Roseanne Barr's running mate in her bid to become the next U.S. President.
The TV funnywoman announced her plans to enter the political arena earlier this year (12), and her name will be on the California primary ballot as a candidate for the Green Party this summer (Jul12).
On Tuesday (08May12), Barr declared she would love to have Crazy singer Nelson as her second-in-command, writing on, "My Vice President will be announced at the debate in San Francisco this Saturday. I want Willie Nelson as Vice President."
But Nelson, 79, politely turned down the invite, replying on the social networking site, "Thank you but no thank you. Good luck to you!"
Barr accepted the response graciously and she's now set her sights on gaining the support of another celebrity - St. Elsewhere actor and environmentalist Ed Begley, Jr.
She later tweeted: "I want a VP who can help launch a viable Green Party-Ed Bedgley Jr. (sic) is another Hollywood activist who wld b (would be) good!"
Green Party members will select its top candidate to enter the race for the White House and go up against incumbent President Barack Obama at its convention in Baltimore, Maryland in July (12).
