William Steig, the creator of animated movie sensation Shrek, has died at the age of 95.

Author and illustrator Steig was most famous for the 1990 children's book that spawned the 2002 OSCAR-winning film.

Steig, known as the King of Cartoons for his award-winning works, died of natural causes at his Boston, Massachusetts, home on Friday (3OCT03) night. He leaves a wife, JEANNE, two daughters and a son.
