The legendary DJ and producer William Orbit comes out of retirement for a monumentally rare set at the revamped Proud Camden.
On Thursday 8th July, William Orbit, one of the world's most infamous DJs and producers will end his recent break from public performances with an exclusive DJ set at Proud Camden. At the official re-launch of cult night Ban*Jam, Orbit will be joined by Esser, Tinashe, Kyla la Grange, Rum Shebeen and Marsha (XFM) for a unforgettable night of live music. Confirmed guest-list for the event also includes Orbit's latest collaborator - Katie Melua, alongside Luke Pritchard, Coco Sumner, Ash Stymest, Annie Mac and Ou Est Le Swimmingpool.
'Ambient pioneer, studio master, and omnipresent dance remixer', Orbit has earned one of the most envious reputations in the industry; bringing his signature electronic sound to high-profile collaborations with the likes of Blur, The Cure, Sting, Madonna, Prince, Finley Quaye and BBC Philharmonic Orchestra. Despite his notorious behind-the-scenes status, Orbit very rarely performs in public. Demonstrating their influence and following within the industry, Ban*Jam have managed to secure Orbit as their headline act to celebrate their new monthly residency at Proud Camden. The Ban*Jam performance will be unmissable for all Orbit fans and followers, with the producer set to release the latest album and very interesting new sound of Katie Melua.
Ban*Jam's re-launch night will also host characteristically exciting live acts and late night DJ sets. Recently supporting the likes of Ellie Goulding, Marina and the Diamonds and the Noisettes, Zimbabwe-born Tinashe brings a fusion of authentic African rhyme and contemporary soul-pop to the Ban*Jam line-up. The stunningly charming folk-pop princess Kyla La Grange will treat crowds to her 'angst ridden heartache ditties', whilst Rum Shebeen, back and recovered from Glastonbury, will complete the live acts with their unique blend of Punk Tropicalia. Joining Orbit to top off the night with floor-filling DJ sets is the hugely successful zeitgeist-pop sensation Esser, closely followed by Proud favourite Marsha (XFM).
Beginning two years ago in underground bar St Moritz, Ban*Jam have found the ideal venue to carry on their legacy of exclusive and intimate nights. Set in the Camden's iconic Grade II listed Horse Hospitals, Proud Camden will now host Ban*Jam's night in its recently revealed, revamped interior. Contrasting sharply to Proud's previous look, the South gallery, main gig room, stables area and brand new terraced café have undergone extreme renovation and redesign to dramatically change the Proud Camden experience. With guests such as Amy Winehouse, Jarvis Cocker and Mumford & Sons all partying in the new venue earlier this month, Ban*Jam's launch night promises to add more celebrity and music VIP names to the new Proud Camden.
