The Trailer For The Non-Disney Version Of 'The Little Mermaid' Has Arrived

William Moseley

While we can expect a live action remake of Disney's 'The Little Mermaid' to come eventually in the next few years, another version of the Hans Christian Andersen story is set to arrive later this year - and the new trailer has had people extremely divided.

The Little Mermaid'The Little Mermaid' is the new non-Disney version of the fairytale

It was supposed that this new version would perhaps be a more faithful adaptation of 19th century fairytale, but in fact it bears no similarity to the Andersen story or, indeed, the Walt Disney version. The new trailer sees a grandmother (Shirley MacLaine) reading a story of mermaids to her granddaughters, before flashing back to several decades previously where a reporter named Cam Harrison (William Moseley) sets out to discover the truth about Dr Locke's Miracle Mermaid Elixir.

'The Royals': Are The Critics Bowing Down To E!'s First Scripted Drama?

Elizabeth Hurley Joan Collins Vincent Regan William Moseley

Tonight US audiences get their first look at ‘The Royals’, E!’s new (and first ever) scripted drama, focusing on a fictional British royal family. Starring Elizabeth Hurley as the feisty matriarch Queen Helena, the series looks to be as melodramatic as ‘90210’ and as decadent as ‘Gossip Girl’. But is 'The Royals' actually worth turning over an hour of your Sunday evening to?

Elizabeth HurleyElizabeth Hurley stars as Queen Helena in 'The Royals'.

At the center of the series is Elizabeth Hurley who seems to be always available when American television is in need of an upper-class British sexpot. But Hurley’s Queen Helena, or as The Los Angeles Times’ Mary McNamara describes her ‘an Ivanka Trumped-up version of Princess Diana’, seems to lack the necessary depth to make her watchable beyond the show’s first 15 minutes.

The Chronicles Of Narnia: Prince Caspian Review

OK
In Clerks II, uber-slacker Randal described the Lord of the Rings trilogy as a series of endless walks. Nothing but nonstop, pointless treks. One has to wonder what his reaction would be to the overwhelming ambulation in the two Chronicles of Narnia films. While The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe had origins and mythos to highlight, Disney's latest entry in the franchise, Prince Caspian, requires a more minimal setup. All returning director Andrew Adamson has to offer as a result is more shoe to footpath action, with the occasional CGI-sparked battle to break up the constant strolling.

It's been a year since Lucy (Georgie Henley), Edmund (Skandar Keynes), Peter (William Moseley), and Susan (Anna Popplewell) Pevensie have been to the magical land that they once ruled as kings and queens. However, 13 centuries have passed in Narnia, and a race of humans known as Telmarines have overrun the kingdom. They have systematically killed off almost all the creatures, and rule by blood and violence. Within the court, Miraz (Sergio Castellitto), brother of the late King Caspian IX, has taken over and threatened the life of the true, titular heir (Ben Barnes). With the help of the returning foursome, Prince Caspian will rally the remaining Narnians, leading them to victory over their evil oppressors.
