British singer Will Young is set to make his West End debut after landing a starring role in a new production of Cabaret.
The Leave Right Now hitmaker appeared opposite Dame Judi Dench and Bob Hoskins in 2005's Mrs Henderson Presents, and he followed it up with numerous TV roles and the male lead in Noel Coward play The Vortex in 2007.
Now Young is preparing to show off his stage skills once again after landing the part of the Emcee in the upcoming production, which will tour the U.K. for four weeks before a stint at London's Savoy Theatre this autumn (12).
Director Rufus Norris tells Britain's Daily Mail, "It's one of those great, left-field casting ideas."
In a statement, Young adds, "I am very excited about the challenge of choosing Cabaret as my first musical theatre role. The role of the Emcee is a part I have wanted to play since before I started training at Arts Education in Chiswick (west London) when I first moved to London. I have spent the last 10 years singing, dancing and acting all separately. For the first time I get to do all three in one show. How could I Not be excited."
