Comedian Will Ferrell has ruled out a sequel to his 2003 Christmas comedy Elf.

The funnyman, 46, portrayed a man raised as an elf at the North Pole in the family film, and the movie was one of his first in a starring role.

He has since found huge success with the popular Anchorman films and projects like Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby (2006), Blades of Glory (2007) and The Other Guys (2010), and he admits there's no chance of him slipping back into his colourful costume for Elf.

During an appearance on U.S. talk show Watch What Happens Live on Tuesday night (17Dec13), he said, "Absolutely not. It would look slightly pathetic if I tried to squeeze back into the Elf tights."
