Following the barnstorming announcement by Will Ferrell on Conan Obrien's talk show that there would be a sequel to the much-loved comedy 'Anchorman,' questions have soon started circling the internet about who else from the first film might be joining him. For all of Ferrell's hilarious quotes as news anchor Ron Burgundy, it was the supporting cast that ensured the movie's longevity. Furthermore, since 'Anchorman' came out in 2004 both Paul Rudd and Steve Carell have only gotten bigger in their own right and so, of course, the first query has to be whether either of these two will be able to fit it into their schedule to appear. There has been no word yet on Christina Applegate's involvement. seems to think that both will be returning however, as apparently will David Koechner, with further claims that the film will be produced under mogul Judd Apatow's banner with Will Ferrell and Adam MCKay's Gary Sanchez Productions - MCkay will write as well as direct the script, apparently, with Ferrell.
Since appearing in 'Anchorman,' Carell has been in films such as 'The 40 Year-Old Virgin' and 'Little Miss Sunshine' as well as taking the lead role in the US 'Office.' Rudd meanwhile has appeared in the likes of 'Knocked Up,' 'Role Models' and, recently, 'Wanderlust' alongside good pal Jennifer Aniston. Both have films they are still working on for later this year, so it might be a while yet before we get to see the return of 'Anchorman.'
