Will Arnett has landed the lead role in a forthcoming comedy pilot for NBC.
Will Arnett, the American actor and star of 'Arrested Development', has been cast alongside Christina Applegate in a yet-to-be titled comedy show, reports the Huffington Post. The 40-year-old actor, who played the lead in the short lived Fox sitcom 'Running Wilde' last year, will portray a stay-at-home husband in the new show. The currently untitled project is being produced by Saturday Night Live's Lorne Michaels and writer Emily Spivey. Recent speculation has linked Arnett to Steve Carell's role on Nbc's 'The Office', but his casting in the Nbc show means it is now unlikely that he will join the hit sitcom. Arnett has appeared in a number of comedies in recent years, he's had a recurring role in '30 Rock' since its first season and also made a guest appearance on his wife Amy Poehler's show 'Parks and Recreation'. It is also been reported that he will star in an 'Arrested Development' movie.
As well as being rumoured to be Steve Carell's replacement on 'The Office', Will Arnett will also star in the show's season finale on 19th May 2011.
