A Hard Days Night [Remastered] Trailer

In 1964, black and white music comedy 'A Hard Day's Night' was released, starring the world's most famous rock band The Beatles. John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr took to the big screen at the peak of what was commonly referred to as Beatlemania, but not to do your average music documentary. The movie shows the Liverpool lads' eventful trip from their hometown to London, encountering overexcited fans, dealing with Paul's very irresponsible grandfather, and going on a rather comical trip around the city in a bid to find Ringo after Paul's grandfather convinced him to wander off. Luckily enough, no problem was too serious and they eventually managed to hit the stage for a major concert to be televised for the movie.

A Hard Day's Night Review

Extraordinary
In watching A Hard Day's Night, you might feel an intense desire to tune out the visuals and simply sit back and listen to one of the most awesome movie soundtracks of all time. It is The Beatles, after all.

But don't do it! Miss the narrative (sketchy as it may be) and the visuals (jerky as they are) and you'll be missing one of the funniest and most unique movies ever made. Shot before The Beatles had hit it big in America, the movie ostensibly follows a day in the life of the Fab Four, as they travel to a TV appearance and an evening concert and experience various misadventures along the way.

Alice In Wonderland (1966) Review

OK
It doesn't take the Ravi Shankar soundtrack to cue you that this version of Alice in Wonderland -- just an hour long, shot for the BBC -- hails from the 1960s. Taking the story's thinly veiled drug metaphors to their ultra-serious limit, the movie has a bit of a Cheech and Chong feeling to it, and the star power of John Gielgud, Peter Sellers, and Peter Cook (among many others) conspire to ensure that Alice (Anne-Marie Mallik) doesn't even got top billing. This was one of the first of director Jonathan Miller's numerous BBC teleplays, and his greenness is apparent -- it's neither kid-friendly (the actors don't wear animal costumes, they just allude to them) nor particularly clever, coming across in the end like a kind of Alice's Greatest Hits. Finally, I know it was 1966 television, but Alice just never works in black and white. It's like The Wizard of Oz without the yellow brick road.
