Comedienne Whoopi Goldberg is taking her 1984 self-titled solo stage show back to New York city - after giving it a test run in Pennsylvania.

The show, which launched Goldberg's career, will run from 13 to 17 October (04) at Philadelphia's Merriam Theatre, before heading to Broadway's Lyceum Theatre shortly afterwards.

The New York opening will coincide with the 20th anniversary of the original run, which was also at the Lyceum, and will re-create the same material seen in the original, in which Goldberg impersonated a series of characters.

Since her solo stage debut, Goldberg has returned to Broadway in A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM and MA RAINEY'S BLACK BOTTOM.
