Whitney Houston's sister-in-law had long feared the superstar would suffer an untimely death because the singer was making dubious lifestyle choices during her final months.
Patricia Houston, who is married to the star's brother, was Whitney's confidante and one-time manager, and in her upcoming TV interview with Oprah Winfrey, she reveals she was extremely worried about her friend.
However, Patricia insists fears her tragic sister-in-law would suffer a drug-related death passed some time ago - when Houston started to show signs she was on the road back to good health.
She says, "Things were really changing with her... It wasn't about substance abuse... It was just more of the lifestyle. I was afraid of other things.
"I saw her chasing a dream... looking for love in all the wrong places."
Winfrey's Houston special, which will air in the U.S. on Sunday (11Mar12), also features an interview with the singer's teenage daughter Bobbi Kristina.
