Music mogul Antonio 'L.A.' Reid has played down reports suggesting Whitney Houston was primed to become a judge on America's The X Factor at the time of her death earlier this month (Feb12), revealing producers hadn't even had meetings with her.
The producer's X Factor co-judge Simon Cowell went public with news that Houston was being considered as one of the replacements for Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger on the talent show, but Reid insists the media have taken the Brit's comments out of context.
Reid tells WENN, "We love Whitney and we would have certainly considered it, but the truth is it never quite came to that.
"There was an interest there, but we never actually had meetings about it...We didn’t really get that far. So I don’t think it’s proper to comment beyond that."
