Air Miami is the next single to be released by the three headband wearing, baseball bat swingin boys from Michigan, Whirlwind Heat.
Having released two previous albums that saw the band creatively one step ahead of the game (first record Do Rabbits Wonder: write a record with no hooks or repeating parts. Second record Flamingo Honey: ten songs and ten minutes long) the Types of Wood captures the band at yet another point of their unbridled creativity. It's sound is variegated and distinct - listen to Regan and hear a faint echo of Blue Monday, or tune into Frenchie and imagine a Gainsbourg puppet show for the blind, or put each of your index fingers on the center of each of your speakers and feel the slobbering, sloppy mess of teen sex sounds in Slugger. All this with just Bass, Drums, and Moog.
It was an immortal genius who years ago prophetically proclaimed, "The Heat is On." It's safe to say that no one knew Mr. Frey's words would still hold true twenty years later - no one except for Whirlwind Heat.
