Former Westlife singer Brian McFadden has revealed that his marriage to Atomic Kitten's Kerry Katona was doomed from the start.
The pair married in January 2002 in lavish celebrity style, largely funded by the hefty pay check from gossip magazine Hello!, which was covering the event.
However McFadden has announced that despite their two-year marriage and two daughters together, the marriage was over before it had began as they were both more interested in the paparazzi coverage than each other.
Speaking to celebrity magazine Reveal, Brian said: "It wasn't a real wedding. We were getting married to have a big party and get loads of money for it and to appear showbiz."
It is rumoured that the couple's wedding cost a massive £300,000, certainly a lot more than eight-month pregnant Kerry spent on her Gretna Green wedding to cabbie Mark Croft last month.
"My marriage ended on the stag night," the Dublin-born singer, currently dating ex-Neighbours actress and songstress Delta Goodrem, told the magazine.
Brian also admitted that being a popstar and a father aged 21 was tricky to deal with. "I was too young to understand what having kids meant," he revealed.
