The rapper Lil' Phat has been shot dead in Atlanta. The Atlanta Journal Constitution broke the news that the 19 year-old hip-hop star had been shot at around 6:40pm yesterday (June 7, 2012) close to Northside Hospital Women's Centre, "in the 1001 block of Johnson Ferry Road." His car was found nearby, parked in an area close to the center.
Witnesses told police that they saw two black males running away from the scene of the fatal shooting. Police spokesman Capt. Steve Rose said that they were looking for one short man, who was wearing a red t shirt and another taller man dressed all in black. Lil' Phat was taken to the nearby hospital, but was pronounced dead at the scene. It is currently unknown whether or not the incident will have been captured on the center's CCTV cameras.
The hospital was placed under lockdown and one of the visitors there at the time told police "We arrived around 6:30pm to visit my brother and sister-in-law - my wife's family had a baby today at Northside Women's Center - and as we arrived, there was a disturbance in the parking lot. As we entered the hospital, we were escorted to an empty patient room with other visitors. Another family said that as they were beginning to leave, they heard shots and were hurried back into the hospital." Lil Phat was signed to Trill ENT, home to fellow rappers and hip-hop artists Webbie, Lil Boosie and Lil Trill.
