We Are Scientists plan The Great Escape
On 3rd October WE ARE SCIENTISTS release their second single, The Great Escape, which is taken from their hotly anticipated forthcoming album, With Love and Squalor.
WE ARE SCIENTISTS started to cause a buzz when their five-song demo caused a music industry stampede Stateside and a triumphant performance at this year's South By Southwest turned up the heat. Among those pressed against the stage in Austin was Steve Lamacq, who booked the band for a live session and began playing the unreleased single on his show. We Are Scientists signed to Virgin Records in April and shortly thereafter released their debut single, Nobody Move, Nobody Get Hurt, which was added to the evening playlist at Xfm, was Zane Lowe's Record Of The Week, received several plays on Jo Whiley's Radio 1 show, a Steve Lamacq Session and a B-list at MTV2.
The Great Escape is a pulsating, rhythm-driven pop song rammed with hooks, an urgent verse and a strong chorus perfectly capturing the band's melody-enriched, danceable guitar rock. It's a remarkable, peculiar fusion, a triumphant alchemy of brainy beat structures and heartfelt pop, and it looks set to propel the band further into the public's consciousness and break them into the Top 40. It will be available on two track CD (VUSCD 308), Maxi CD (VUSDX 308) and limited edition coloured vinyl (VUS 308).
The band's debut album, With Love and Squalor, will be released on 17th October. They will play Reading and Leeds Festivals at the end of August, coinciding with a 19-date UK tour.
