The Walt Disney Co.'s decision to rescue its nearly 20-year-old Beauty and the Beast from its vaults and restore it on high-definition Blu-ray disc has paid off handsomely for The Company. The "Diamond Edition," which will be available for a limited time before Belle and the Beast are returned to The Vaults, topped the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert sales chart in its first week back in the video store, despite the fact that it was available only as a three-disc combo pack. Except for a making-of documentary, the ton of extras included with the movie received mostly negative notices. But as one reviewer observed, "This beloved 1991 film has never looked better."
