Google is getting into the cable-TV business. Today's (Thursday) Wall Street Journal reports that the Internet giant is set to hook up homes in Kansas City, MO and Kansas City, KS with fiber-optic cable to deliver cable-TV combined with Internet connections 100 times faster than what is offered by most Internet service providers today. According to the newspaper, Google Fiber could launch as early as a month or two from now. The company is reportedly negotiating deals with some cable channels that would allow Google to include them in similar fiber-optic cable systems that would be offered in other cities. Meanwhile, the Journal also reported that Google is investing more than $125 million for premium content to be delivered via its YouTube video site.
