The Furious 7 star previously revealed plans for a fourth film in the series were being discussed last year (14), and now he has confirmed Pitch Black's creator and director David Twohy will start writing the script for Furia in December (15).

However, the actor claims he is also developing his own Riddick project for TV through a new department of his production firm.

"Last night Our company had a party to launch Our TV division," he shares on social media. "Very exciting. MERC CITY is a show that will follow the Mercs and Bounty Hunters of the Riddick Universe."

He adds, "Next Month, DT (Twohy) begins writing the next Chapter in the Chronicles of Riddick... FURIA."

Diesel is expected to reprise his role as assassin Riddick in Furia, although it is not yet known if he will feature on his forthcoming Merc City show.

The last film in the franchise, 2013's Riddick, was met with mixed reviews but grossed just over $100 million (£62.5 million) worldwide from a $40 million (£25 million) budget.
