The seventh installment in the Fast & Furious series, starring Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson, took $4.8 million (£3 million) in Britain over the weekend (17-20Apr15), outdoing its nearest rival Cinderella, which remained static in second place with $1.6 million (£1 million).

Animated kids' movie Home was also a non-mover in third place, with box office takings of $1.3 million (£854,000), and the top five was rounded out by Child 44, with $808,000 (£505,000), and Woman in Gold, which netted $595,000 (£372,000).

Furious 7 features tragic actor Paul Walker in his last onscreen performance before his death in a car accident in 2013.
