Sammie on the new album:
"Its a mature sound. I'm 18, so you know it's going to be a lot different from when I was 12 and 13. I co-wrote every song except one. This is like my baby, real personal to me. It's about discretion, expansions throughout high school. I even went through the whole break-up thing which helped me to become a better songwriter. From the top to bottom it's a solid album. I'm really trying to bring singing back to the industry. I do think that R&B has gotten a little too cute. It's all about the looks now. You should be able hold a note, that's the way it used to be. Like Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Al Green. Whenever they handled the microphone they were just passionate about what they're doing. That's what I'm trying to bring back. This album, self-titled "Sammie," I think is going to define that and is going to let people know what I've been going through the past 5 years of my life."
