The bosses behind Bbc reality contest 'Strictly Come Dancing' look to be going Olympic crazy along with the rest of the country after the Daily Mirror reported that they had an Olympiad hit list of stars to approach to appear on the next series of the long running show, topped by women's two-time gold medal winning cycling Victoria Pendleton .
Pendleton, a legend of British and, indeed, world track cycling, has already announced that she'll be retiring upon completion of the games this week, and bosses are apparently keen to get her into the competition, with athletes traditionally doing well in the show. She's not the only member of Great Britain's current Olympic squad they're interested in either. Fellow two-time gold medal winner (though two bronzes this time round) swimmer Becky Adlington also hinted at taking some time out from her sport to do other things and it's believed that 'Strictly.' were all ears when they heard. Topping their holy trinity of Games athletes is gymnast Beth Tweddle, who won a bronze medal today in the women's uneven bars final.
A source told the Mirror "The Olympics have been an unbelievable success for the Beeb so far and they want to make the most of it by getting a couple of athletes onto Strictly. It makes perfect sense to try to use the Olympic fever that has swept the country to boost their most popular entertainment show."
