Katie Hillier has been named the new celebrity ambassador for the Red Squirrel Survival Trust.
The accessories designer - who has her own animal-inspired jewellery line, as well as designing handbags for Victoria Beckham, Marc Jacobs and Loewe - says she's thrilled to be involved as it's a cause close to her heart.
She said: ''I am very fond of the red squirrel - such charming little creatures and sadly in vast decline. As part of our national heritage, it's vitally important that we make every effort we can to protect and preserve this wonderful inhabitant for future generations to enjoy and fall in love with as much as I have. I am delighted to play a part in supporting their plight with the RSST and doing all that I can to secure their future.''
The charity aims to prevent the extinction of this endangered animal, through public support and raising funds and RSST's chief executive Janet Wickens says Katie is the perfect ambassador.
She said: ''Katie brings an added dimension to our work and we are thrilled to be working with her. She demonstrates that the great British public, in so many different walks of life, have a real desire to protect our native red squirrel. The Fashion world is once again proving that it can take a lead on issues that matter to the people of the UK.''
