Struggling pop star Victoria Beckham is poised to be the focus of a bitter court battle with brewing giants FOSTER'S, who claim her proposed fashion tag VB mirrors one of their beer titles.
The former SPICE GIRL, 29, may be forced to ditch the initials if Foster's - whose big-selling drink VICTORIA BITTER shares the same trademark - win exclusive rights to the moniker.
Foster's spokesperson LORNE MacLEANNAN says, "The VB name is a registered trademark.
"One of our main beers in Australia is called VB and it also sells in the UK.
"We haven't heard anything from the Beckhams.
"We haven't issued a warning yet."
However, Beckham's spokeswoman insists the singer knew nothing about the VB beer and has yet to confirm whether her clothing line will feature her initials.
She says, "Victoria has said for some time she wants to do a clothing range.
"No final decision has been made on the name as yet."31/03/2004 13:47
