Record giant Universal hopes to compete with burgeoning online sales by reverting to cheap cardboard-covered CDs. The company - home to a host of stars including U2, Mariah Carey and SIR Elton John - expects the packaging overhaul and slashed prices will bring back customers who ditched chain stores in favour of cheaper web downloads. Executive vice president MAX HOLE says, "We thought we should reboot the consumer's experience of buying CDs."
