Sources tell Billboard.com the group's Forum show will go ahead as planned, despite Sheehan's death on Wednesday morning, but his passing and his contribution to the band for over 30 years will be acknowledged by frontman Bono at the gig.

U2 played the first of five Forum shows on their Innocence + Experience tour on Tuesday night (26May15), just hours before Sheehan's body was found in his room at the Sunset Marquis Hotel in Los Angeles.

Reports suggest he had suffered a cardiac arrest.

Paying tribute to his longtime friend on the band's website, Bono said, "We've lost a family member, we're still taking it in. He wasn't just a legend in the music business, he was a legend in our band. He is irreplaceable."
