U2 frontman Bono has successfully brought the issue of African poverty to the world's wealthiest nations. The Irish rocker, a campaigner for third world debt relief, met German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Tuesday (17APR07) where he secured a pledge to use the G8 summit in northern Germany in June (07) to plead Africa's case. He says, "Africa is this magical, extraordinary continent and we've got to start describing it more as an opportunity than a burden."
