U2 rocker Bono is continuing efforts to raise awareness of world poverty by joining the Irish government's Hunger Task Force. The campaign was launched in capital city Dublin last month (Apr07) and also includes experts from Nigeria, Peru, Britain and America. Aid Minister Conor Lenihan said yesterday (21May07), "Bono's commitment to the developing world is well known. I am confident that he will bring his trademark enthusiasm, experience and insights to the task force. "His participation will give the issue of global hunger and malnutrition the level of attention that it deserves." The Hunger Task Force is headed by former Irish agriculture minister Joe Walsh and forms part of Ireland's efforts to achieve the first United Nations Millennium Development Goal of halving world poverty by 2015.
