Actor Tyler Posey has apologised to fans after posting a video on Snapchat and falsely claiming he was gay.
The 24-year-old Teen Wolf star was sharing videos on the social media site while hanging out with friends on Friday (29Jul16), with one video seemingly showing the actor 'coming out' to his fans.
In a clip of a street sign for 'Gay St.,', Posey told his Snapchat followers, "This is me. I am this and this is me. I've never felt more alive." He then turned the camera on himself and yelled, "I'm gay!"
He was flooded with praise on Twitter for being honest about his sexuality, with one fan writing, "Tyler Posey just came out as gay in the cutest way, I wasn't expecting that and I am so proud of him."
However, the star quickly backtracked on Saturday (30Jul16), issuing an apology and clarifying his sexuality.
"I am a big proponent of love over hate, and standing together during divisive times," Posey wrote on Twitter. "Although I'm not gay, I fully support the LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Queer) community. This was a moment intended to reflect that."
"And everyone, I am truly sorry to the people I've offended or lessened how big coming out is. I just want to spread love in this world," he added.
Despite Posey pretending to come out, his former Teen Wolf co-star Colton Haynes was not faking when he announced he was gay in May (16).
A comment he left on a Tumblr post about his "secret gay past" went viral, and Haynes later opened up and revealed his sexuality to his fans. "I should have made a comment or a statement (at the time), but I just wasn't ready," the Arrow star explained. "I didn't feel like I owed anyone anything.
"I think in due time, everyone has to make those decisions when they're ready, and I wasn't yet. But I felt like I was letting people down by not coming forward with the rest of what I should have said."
