The Slow Jamz MC, real name Carl Mitchell, and three members of his crew were arrested in March (16) after police officers pulled over the Rolls Royce they were travelling in and found marijuana following a search of the vehicle.

Twista had been on his way to a concert at the Big Shots nightclub in Valparaiso, Indiana, but had to cancel the show as he was held in custody until the early hours of the following day, when he posted $500 (£350) bail.

The four men appeared at the Porter County courthouse on Monday and lodged not guilty pleas for Class B misdemeanor possession of marijuana, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Their attorney Lakeisha C. Murdaugh also filed a motion to preserve the tapes of the Porter County Sheriff's officers involved in the arrest so the transmissions can be reviewed.

The cops claim the Rolls Royce was driving too close to a truck in front so they pulled it over. They allegedly smelled weed during the traffic stop, and subsequently uncovered a hidden can contained the drug. All four men denied it was theirs.

Twista, 42, from Chicago, will head to trial on the charge on 18 August (16). The four men face up to 180 days in jail and up to $1,000 (£700) in fines if found guilty.
