Late rapper Tupac Shakur has landed at the top of America's Billboard 200 with his latest album LOYAL TO THE GAME - making it his third posthumous US chart-topper.

The album, featuring contributions from the likes of Eminem, Nate Dogg and Jadakiss, sold 330,000 copies in its opening week, becoming his fifth number one on the tally.

Since his 1996 murder, Tupac's album sales have totalled more than 18 million units in the United States, with a career total of 24.4 million.

Compilation album NOW THAT'S WHAT I CALL MUSIC! 17, EMINEM's Encore, Shania Twain's GREATEST HITS and U2's HOW TO DISMANTLE AN ATOMIC BOMB round out the top five.

Last week's (ends17DEC04) number one, LUDACRIS' THE RED LIGHT DISTRICT, plummeted to 12th place with sales of 213,500.

Ashanti's third studio album CONCRETE ROSE opened at a disappointing number seven with sales of 254,000, becoming her first album of non-holiday release to not debut at number one.
