Late rapper Tupac Shakur continues to sit at the top of the UK singles chart for a third successive week with GHETTO GOSPEL, after fighting off competition from Mariah Carey.

Shakur's smash hit song features vocals by SIR Elton John and is his 13th posthumous hit.

Carey's WE BELONG TOGETHER crashes into the charts at number two, while James Blunt's YOU'RE BEAUTIFUL remains at number three.

Former opera star Charlotte Church's debut pop track CRAZY CHICK has dropped two places to number four, and American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson's SINCE U BEEN GONE is a new entry at number five.

In the UK albums chart, James Blunt's Back To Bedlam has moved up a place to take the top spot, ending Coldplay's reign at number one.

The CHRIS MARTIN-fronted band's X+Y drops a place to number two.

Faithless compilation FOREVER FAITHLESS - THE GREATEST HITS moves up the charts again to number three, while Kaiser Chiefs debut album EMPLOYMENT is at number four.

Soft rockers Keane move back into the top five with HOPES AND FEARS, which sits at number five.
