Country star Trace Adkins is joining bosses of a music venue who are donating $10,000 (£7,631) to the family of a police officer killed in the line of duty.
Trace, 54, and the owners of The Back Porch on the Creek in Knoxville, Tennessee are making the donation to the family of Officer Kenny Moats, who was killed last Thursday (25Aug16) in Maryville, Tennessee.
It had been previously announced that $1 (£0.76) would be donated to police union the Fraternal Order of Police for every ticket sold ahead of Trace's gig at the venue on Friday (02Sep16) .
A post on the venue's Facebook page reads: "Trace Adkins and The Back Porch On The Creek felt they needed to do something after hearing that Maryville Police officer Kenny Moats was killed in the line of duty last Thursday...
"Now they have stepped forward to announce they will donate $10,000.00 to the family of Officer Moats. The policeman leaves behind a wife and three small children."
Officer Moats, 32, was fatally shot while answering a domestic violence call.
Serving law enforcement officials will also receive free admission to the gig and additional donations to the Moats family will be collected during the show.
