Toni Collette is set to star in 'The Way, Way Back'.

The 'Muriel's Wedding' actress is in talks to sign up for Oscar-winning writers Jim Rash and Nat Faxon's directorial debut, which will reunite her with her 'Little Miss Sunshine' co-star Steve Carell.

The film tells the story of a teenage boy who struggles through a summer holiday while dealing with a bored, inattentive mother (Collette) and a drinking, drug-taking and cheating stepfather (Carell).

The cast already includes Allison Janney, Sam Rockwell and AnnaSophia Robb, with the co-directors set to kick off production this summer thanks to their script's appearance on the 2010 Black List.

Collette was most recently seen in 'Fright Night' and is about to start work as Peggy Robertson on Sacha Gervasi's 'Alfred Hitchcock And The Making Of Psycho'.

Carell will next be seen in 'Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World' and 'Hope Springs' and already has roles lined up in Charlie Kaufman's 'Frank Or Francis' and Bennett Miller's 'Foxcatcher'.
