The 76-year-old singer was left heartbroken following the death of his wife of 59 years, Lady Melinda Rose Woodward, also known as Linda, last year (16). But Elvis Presley's ex-wife Priscilla, 71, is said to have been helping Tom over his grief, with the pair taking their friendship from platonic to romantic in recent months, according to Britain's The Sun newspaper.

"Tom has had a difficult year with Linda’s death and Priscilla has been an amazing support," a source told the publication. "Tom and Priscilla are courting. There is a spark between them but they are taking it slowly. It really is early days but they get on so well."

Tom and Priscilla have been seen out together on numerous occasions, most recently when they dined at Hollywood restaurant Craig’s last month (Jan17).

And while the Delilah singer has never made a secret of his fondness for Priscilla, he stayed silent when questioned about romance rumours, telling The Sun: "We have been friends for a long time. She’s a lovely lady. We do enjoy our nights out together."

A spokesperson for Tom added to the news outlet: "Priscilla Presley and Tom have known each other for many, many years."

Actress Priscilla, who has appeared in programmes such as Dallas and the Naked Gun movies, is most famous for her relationship with music icon Elvis, who she married in 1967 and divorced in 1973.

She has since dated stars including actor Mike Edwards and Pop Idol judge Nigel Lythgoe.

Tom, meanwhile, has spoken of his grief following his wife's death in April (16), and admitted in an interview last October (16) that he often dreams she is still alive, and insisted the prospect of finding love with someone else couldn't be further from his mind. When asked if he foresees a new relationship in the future, the singer told the Sunday People: "I haven't even thought about that - I really haven't."
