The Forrest Gump actor did not hold back when he was asked about the crass comments the Republican presidential candidate made about women in 2005 during a promotional interview for his new Dan Brown movie Inferno.

In the video Trump boasted he can kiss and grab women “by the p**sy” and that because of his celebrity status women will let him do anything.

In the three-minute video Trump also discusses a failed attempt to have sex with an unnamed married woman, later revealed to be TV broadcaster Nancy O'Dell. The real estate billionaire said: “I moved on her and I failed. I’ll admit it. I did try and f**k her."

The business mogul has since apologised for his remarks, but Hanks refuses to accept it was just male "locker room banter."

“I’m offended as a man. I’m not offended as a husband or a father, I’m offended as a guy,” said Hanks in an interview with the Press Association. “That’s just not right, I’m sorry. It’s not right at work. It’s not right in the locker room. It’s wrong. Period. The end. That’s all."

And in response to a question about whether he accepts Trump's definition of the lurid conversation as “locker room talk,” Hanks responded, “Oh dear, oh no. He was at work, man. He wasn’t in a locker room, he was at work. He was showing up to do a thing on camera.”

With the forthcoming presidential elections foremost in American voters minds, the Oscar-winner, warming to his subject, offered a theory which may help undecided voters to chose a candidate this November (16).

“If you have a horrible painful tooth and you need a root canal, who are you going to go see? A guy who says, ‘Oh, I think I can figure out how to do a root canal for you, lay down.’ Or are you going to see somebody who’s done 6,000 of them, has a degree on the wall and has a great history and expertise when it comes down to it,” he said, seemingly referring to Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton

Hanks can be seen in Inferno this October (16).
