There appears to be conflicting reports as to whether Tom Cruise and his daughter Suri were caught up in a real-life 'Mission Impossible' style car chase as the pair were reunited in New York on Wednesday afternoon (July 28, 2012).
Actually, most of the reports suggest the chase happened - with the New York Daily News claiming that Cruise dodged a host of photographers on the West Side Highway - though his publicist Amanda Lundberg denied the reports. In an email to Newsday, Lundberg bluntly stated "It's false. Never happened". The original report suggested that whilst driving in his Suv, Cruise was chased by a host of paparazzi and journalists making up 10 cars, six bikes and motorcycles. Police say they received zero calls that the Hollywood star caused any "near accidents" as was reported. The Daily News had claimed that the chase "began when Cruise and his daughter left their Tribeca hotel and ended at the heliport where he and Suri were photographed boarding a chopper headed to New Jersey".
It has been widely reported that Cruise took an overnight flight from Los Angeles to New York, to be with his daughter for the first time since Katie Holmes filed for divorce, "blindsiding" him in the process. The former couple agreed on a settlement just 11 days after the papers were filed.
