Tom Cruise, the multi-award winning Hollywood actor, is in talks to play the 'killing machine' Jack Reacher in the forthcoming movie 'One Shot'. Tom Cruise is close to joining the crime-drama based on Lee Child's series of bestselling novels, reports Deadline.
The possible casting has surprised some fans of the novels, given that 'Jack' is described as being a 6ft 5in 'killing machine', weighing 250lbs who travels the US slaying villains with little other than his bare hands. Cruise measures 5ft 7in and is thought to be some way off 250lbs in weight. 'One Shot' is an adaptation of the ninth novel in the Reacher series, with the hero tackling the case of a lone sniper who murders five people. In answer to fans worries about the casting, Child said, "Reacher's size in the books is a metaphor for an unstoppable force, which Cruise portrays in his own way". The film is scheduled to begin shooting in the autumn, before the actor begins work on the apocalyptic sci-fi movie 'Oblivion'. It will be directed by Christopher McQuarrie, who previously collaborated with Cruise on 'Valkyrie and 'Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol'.
Tom Cruise is currently shooting the comedy-drama movie 'Rock of Ages', about a small-time girl who arrives in Hollywood at the height of the 1980's rock scene. The film also stars British comedian Russell Brand and PAUL GIAMATTI.
