Tim Mcgraw has scored the biggest debut of the year for a country album after grabbing the number one spot on America's new chart.

The singer's new album LIVE LIKE YOU WERE DYING shifted a staggering 766,000 copies in its first week on release.

It's McGraw's third number one album and it also tops America's Billboard's Top Country Albums chart with the fifth biggest debut for a country album in the Nielsen estimates era.

It's a good week for album debuts - R Kelly, Young Buck and MASE make up the remainder of the top four. Troubled R Kelly's HAPPY PEOPLE/U SAVED ME debuted at number two with 403,000 sales, Young Buck crashed in at number three with STRAIGHT OUTTA CASHVILLE (261,000 sales) and rapper-turned preacher Mase's first BAD BOY RECORDS album since 1999, WELCOME BACK, debuted at number four with sales of 188,000.
