Far From Home
Tiga drops 'Far From Home' The awesome new single from his critically acclaimed debut album Sexor.
Who's your favourite Tiga? Is it the mind-bending imagination to, amongst umpteen other tunes, Scissor Sisters' 'Comfortably Numb', LCD Soundsystem's 'Tribulations', Mylo's 'Muscle Cars' and Depeche Mode's 'Shake The Disease'? Is it the DJ who, at this moment, is probably playing a club near you? (This Tiga has been touring the world almost non-stop for over a decade.) Is it the vocalist on Richard X's 'You (Better Let Me Love You x4) Tonight'? The entrepreneur who was once the primus inter pares on the Montreal dance scene? The student of pop history who rushed out his floor-filling cover of 'Hot In Herre' moments after the release of Nelly's original, 'just like they did in the Fifties'? The tattooed manboy who has been known to dick about with make-up and (ulp) Miami Vice jackets in photos? Is it the conceptually-minded Eighties fan who, for his first ever recording, turned Corey Hart's naff 'Sunglasses At Night' into a pulsing slab of teutonic cool that was the best thing ever released on DJ Hell's International DJ Gigolo label? Or is your favourite Tiga the latest one, the freshest one, the artist who has finally got round to making an album, called Sexor?
After three years in the making, Sexor finds Tiga in spine-tingling form. Produced By Tiga and Soulwax, Tiga sings on every track. Jake Shears from Scissor Sisters guests on the album too. Taking inspiration from some of the world's filthiest underground night spots, Sexor lives up to its title. The result is a hugely satisfying listen. Free-roaming but coherent, thumpingly invigorating, full of beats and tunes that unites rock kids and rave kids alike.
'Far From Home' is a unique pop gem which is sure to send Tiga spiralling into the mainstream. Tiga of Top Of The Pops, now isn't that a refreshing thought? Tiga has just returned from Japan where he shot the video for Far From Home with acclaimed director Nagi Noda (who has just shot the Jack White Coke ad). Copies available soon.
