The X Factor's 16-year-old finalist Amelia Lily claims she has refused to wear a revealing outfit given to her for tomorrow's live performance. Middlesbrough-born Amelia is considered one of the favourites to win this year's competition, but was "uncomfortable" with the outfit styled for her opening routine, reports the UK's Daily Mirror.

The young hopeful explained, "They've been dressing me in outfits and they have had to take me out of some because they were too revealing because of my age" Asked why she had rejected them, Amelia said, "It's better to be careful, d'you know what I mean?" An official from the show admitted the 16-year-old was "not comfortable" with the outfit but claimed it was a "joint decision" to change the style. A source added, "Amelia may only be 16 but she knows her mind. She's really fashion-forward and if she doesn't want to wear something she'll work with the stylist to find something else". Last year, Ofcom criticised X Factor bosses after Rihanna and Christina Aguilera performed in outfits deemed inappropriate for a family audience.

This year's contestants face a potentially nerve racking opening weekend, with four artists set to be eliminated. Although there will be no public vote, each judge will be forced to send home of one of their own acts on Sunday (9th October 2011).
