Astro ensured that it wasn't an all-girl domination on week three of The X Factor USA, with a noble attempt to steal the limelight from Simon Cowell prodigies Rachel Crow and Melanie Amaro by re-writing Eminem's lyrics on his song 'Lose Yourself'. It came before Amaro performed 'Man In The Mirror' by Michael Jackson - described by her mentor Cowell as the best in the competition so far - and 13 year-old Crow closed out the night with 'I'd Rather Go Blind' from musical biopic 'Cadillac Records'.

Astro, the diminutive 15 year-old rapper, writes his own lyrics and - in a movie-themed week - took the bold step of re-writing lines from 'Lose Yourself', a pivotal song in the soundtrack to Eminem's '8 Mile'. Including lines like "last week I was unknown, this week I'm major", the fiery MC also offered his respects to recently deceased boxer JOE FRAZIER and rapper Heavy D within the song. CBS reports that Cowell was hugely impressed, stating "What I like about you is that I believe that every star has to have a work ethic. You have the audacity to take an Eminem song and rewrite his lyrics".

Unlike the UK equivalent, which is reaching a critical stage by hitting week six of the live shows this weekend, the inaugural series of the US 'X Factor' is still in its early days, with the third round of eliminations taking place tonight (November 10th 2011) and, really, it's still anyone's to win.
